As we have passed the midpoint of the year, reports indicate that Sri Lanka has already welcomed over 1,341,953 tourists. The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) remains hopeful about reaching its target of 3 million tourist arrivals by 2025.
Up until May 2025, tourist arrivals in Sri Lanka totalled 1,029,000, reflecting a 14.8 percent increase compared to the previous year. Among these visitors, there were 47,001 from India in May 2025, accounting for 35.4 percent of total arrivals, followed by the UK with 9,221 visitors, making up 6.9 percent of arrivals.
